Development Through The Nightingale

The Nightingale is committed to supporting work by new and emergent artists, as well as new work by established companies and individuals.

We believe one of the primary roles of this venue will be to help develop the quality and breadth of work produced and presented in the city.

The Scratch Nights are the first point of entry into this development process for theatre and dance makers.

The next step will be the provision of free rehearsal space to create a “Scratch Commission” - a fuller version of the piece to come, but still a little rough around the edges and still part of a larger process - the Scratch performance extends and develops a successful scratch night presentation, and gives companies and artists the opportunity to showcase their work to funders, producers and the Nightingale’s audience.
