We programme theatre & dance of integrity & excellence from all levels of the profession. All performances are arranged on a 50/50 box-office split. Nobody is ever expected to pay to perform here. Our two primary aims are:
- to support the development of new workÂ
- to support the ongoing development of artists
To this end we have created a ladder of development which remains responsive to the individual needs of each project we support.
Scratch Nights are evolved from the BAC’s model providing artists the opportunity to present & receive mentored feedback on 2-10 minutes of work in an early stage of development.
Scratch Developments consists of 5 – 10 days of work in the space part mentored by an artist who we’ll invite to give support & advice.
Industry Showings may follow a Scratch Development and consist of presenting work in development to an invited audience of professionals.
Peer Group &Public Showings may also be undertaken.
Short Cut performances allow for the presentation of 15 – 30 minutes of polished work as part of an evening of short pieces.
Full Developments follow an application by the artist for funding which includes a substantial period of development at the Nightingale given as in-kind support. The NGT will again employ an artist to mentor these developments.
Each of these steps may be taken in any order, be repeated or jumped - over depending on the needs of the artists and work in question. A full copy of our manifesto is available to download here. |
