WHAT WE OFFER

Info for Artists

The Nightingale is a progressive development house building on a fluid ‘ladder of development’ model first implemented by previous theatre managers Alister O’Loughlin and Miranda Henderson. We support the development of work from its earliest phases from production to touring, giving artists the support of mentors and professional advise based on our own experience within the creative industry.

LADDER OF DEVELOPMENT

We respond to artists at all stages of the creative process. Artists who feel they may benefit from this process might consider:

SCRATCH

A presentation of a first draft of a new piece of work that is 5-10 minutes in length. This is followed by a guided, facilitated conversation about the work in a safe informal setting.

SHORT CUTS

A presentation of work in a later stage of development that is 20-30 minutes in length. Industry Showings may follow a SCRATCH development and consist of presenting work in development to an invited audience of professionals.

MENTORING AND COLLABORATION

On a proposal basis, we can offer suggestions and practical support, linking artists with potential collaborators, partners and mentors.

RESIDENCY

On a proposal basis we can offer in-kind rehearsal space or production support to artists.

EXCHANGE

We encourage local, national and international artists in residency to engage with Brighton in sessions of discussion and discourse. Opportunities for these encounters will be advertised on the website and in our monthly newsletters.
