Boogaloo Stu’s Pop Magic

Boogaloo Stu

Audience members collectively write, record and produce their very own pop single accompanied by an all-singing all-dancing pop video.

Along the way, your host and musical impresario Boogaloo Stu reveals the modest but glittering highs and barrel-scraping lows of his own pop career. Within hours the audience can watch, download and share the results on the internet!

Dip Your Toe

Produced by the Nightingale and co-commissioned with The Marlborough Theatre and Brighton Fringe

This May you will see Brighton get changed, as Dip Your Toe brings six bespoke Victorian-style bathing machines to some of the city's most iconic landmarks. Created to protect the modesty of coastal bathers, bathing machines were a feature of our shores for nearly two hundred years. Now these fascinating contraptions return to the streets of Brighton as mobile mini-theatres, and Dip Your Toe culminates in a singularly seaside performance spectacular at Madeira Drive.

Each bathing machine will be the inspiration and the venue for a series of brand new performances by South East artists, creating unforgettable experiences for the city and its visitors. The artists are also working closely with local community groups and schools to make their own special shows as part of Dip Your Toe.

Karavan Ensemble - A SMALL MUSEUM OF DISPLACED SEA

fanSHEN - GREENANDPLEASANTLAND

BandBazi - SWIMMING IN THE PERSIAN GULF

Avis Cockbill & David Parker - STRANDLINE

Stillpoint Theatre - THE DEPARTMENT OF UNRELIABLE MEMOIRS

Inconvenient Spoof - THE TERRIBLE SHAMAN

Seth Kriebel & Zoe Bouras - VIVASCOPE

Boogaloo Stu - PUPPET PARAMOUR + SOCK PUPPET SIDE SHOW

This year’s highlights include Dip Your Toe ... Six Victorian custom built bathing machines will be scattered around the city to house a broad range of performances with both strong community links and wider international elements. With puppet shows, audio and live performances, galleries and even a camera-obscura, the machines will also welcome the Olympiad’s boat when it arrives in Brighton on the first stop of its maiden voyage in May.

I’VE GOT A FEELING - a work in progress

Chris Stagg

A ghost story for sceptics.
Simon has a secret. It’s causing panic attacks and he talks to himself. April has a secret. It’s causing panic attacks but she talks to a therapist.

In this darkly comic urban tale six characters’ lives brush against each other, over lapping and entwining as relationships begin and end, rational thought collides with magical thinking, and ghosts may - or may not - exist.
